Bring smooth and healthy skin to the surface

A chemical peel is a skin-resurfacing procedure in which a chemical solution is applied to the skin to remove the top layers. We perform a thorough analysis and assessment to select the appropriate chemicals for your skin type and conditions. Some of the possible chemical peels include alpha hydroxy acids, salicylic acid, glycolic acid, lactic acid, and phenol. Chemical peels eventually make your skin blister and peel off, revealing smoother, softer, and healthier skin.

Stimulate collagen production and reverse aging

In addition to improving the texture of your skin, chemical peels also stimulate collagen production. Collagen is a fibrous protein that makes your skin look firm, taut, and youthful. It binds skin tissues together and holds them upright against gravity. The loss of collagen is the primary reason for the onset of wrinkles and skin laxity. Chemical peels trigger your body’s innate collagen production capabilities, thus reversing the effects of aging on your skin.

What are the types of chemical peels?

Deep Peels
Deep peels penetrate the deepest layers of the skin and are used to treat deep wrinkles, lines, scars, hyperpigmentation, and textural irregularities. The most common ingredients in superficial peels are trichloroacetic acid, salicylic acid, carbolic acid (phenol), and glycolic acid.

Medium Peels
Medium peels use stronger acids to penetrate deeper into the skin and treat wrinkles, lines, scars, skin laxity, and uneven skin tone. The most common ingredients in superficial peels are trichloroacetic acid, Jessner’s solution, and glycolic acid.

Superficial Peels
Superficial peels, also called lunchtime peels, use gentle acids to exfoliate the top layer of the skin. This type of peel is often used to treat fine wrinkles, lines, and patchy skin tone. The most common ingredients in superficial peels are glycolic acid, lactic acid, and mandelic acid.

What to expect from your chemical peels session

When you come in for your chemical peel, your medical provider will start by thoroughly cleansing your face. After that, they will apply the appropriate chemical peel solution to your skin. The solution will sit on your skin for a few minutes before removal. Once the solution has been removed, your medical provider will apply a soothing lotion to your skin.

You will likely feel a burning sensation during the chemical peel process. This is normal and should subside within a few minutes. Chemical peels are performed in a series of sessions, typically spaced about four to six weeks apart. The number of sessions needed will depend on the depth of the peel and the desired results.

Side effects and recovery after chemical peels

After the chemical peel procedure, you can expect your skin to feel tight and dry. You may also experience some redness and swelling. These side effects are temporary and should subside within a few days. Furthermore, your skin will be sensitive to the sun. It is important to wear sunscreen and avoid sun exposure while your skin is healing. You can also expect your skin to peel for a few days after the treatment. This is normal and part of the skin cell turnover process.

What you can expect from chemical peels results

You can expect results from your chemical peel treatment within a few days to a few weeks. The results will continue to improve as your skin regenerates. You should see an improvement in your skin’s appearance after just one chemical peel. Your skin will be smoother and more evenly toned. If you have sun damage, you will see a decrease in the appearance of sunspots. If you have acne, you may see a decrease in the number of breakouts.
